Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall 1

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall

On June 15, I have been invited by Quill City Mall to attend a Buka Puasa or Iftar session with one of their restaurants. I never imagined of having an invitation for this year Ramadhan since I’m super busy with my daily work and wedding preparation – I’m getting married soon!! 🙂

The Kitchen, an Asian Fusion Restaurant had been selected to be the host. The Kitchen have the capacity to fit 120 pack. Its really suitable for birthday party, farewell, meeting, family gathering and any other occasions, you name it~

Located at level 4 in the Quill City Mall, The Kitchen restaurant has a calm and cozy interior decoration.

Okay, enough with the picture of us – lets jump straight to our foodddd.. Hello food!

By the time we got there the foods are already been served on our reserved table. As for this event we were served with the Set D of Ramadhan Set – as stated below:

Set D (3-4 pax) – RM95++

You can checkout the full list of Ramadhan Set menu here

Our Food: Ramadhan Set D

1. Sweet & Sour (Deep Fried Whole Fish(Sea bass))

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall Sweet & sour sea bass

For me personally, this was the highlight dish for the night. This Sweet & Sour Sea Bass (Siakap) is the best dish among the dishes on the table.

The taste is amazingly delicious, the deep fried whole fish are well cooked – not over cooked which make the fish is so soft and tender~ I would say the taste of this dish is a bit like my mom’s~ (my mom love to cook this dish) 🙂

The only downside for this dish is~ its not enoughhh!. During the event, we’re seated 7 people in 1 table, this Ramadhan Set D are served for 4 pax.

Rating: 9/10 (Highly recommended)

2. Mango Chicken

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall mango chicken

Mango Chicken was my second favorite on that night. This dish disappeared out of the table into our plate in seconds! There’s the sign how delicious it is! But again, the portion for the dish is not enough for 7 of us.

To be honest, this my first time I ever taste this dish and surprisingly I love it! We asked the owner (Puan Azwin Zulkifli) how they cooked it

This what she said – they cook the fried popcorn-chicken with some secret mango sauce, some yada yadaaa~~ andddd voila~~ they come out with this amazing dish. LOL. Just kidding! We did asked the owner for the recipe and she won’t reveal a thing, not even how to cut the chicken! It’s a family recipe, they will never share it with others. So, take your family, try it yourself now and let me know how fast the chicken mango gone 🙂

3. Seafood curry

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall Seafood curry

Hmmm, I’m not sure whether this is a curry, tom yum or asam pedas. I’d say its a FUSION of all the above! Trust me, this seafood curry will put your taste bud into a puzzle.

There is the reason why they called themselves a Asian Fusion restaurant and this one of the dish that represent them. With the sourness and spiciness to the perfect level, I’ve no word to describe this amazing dish. Just amazing.

The image above was taken before we start eating, its look a bit red-ish. We shouldn’t judge a curry by its looks and color! What’s matters is the taste. (we couldn’t snap a photo of it because we’re to busy filling up our stomach with it. :))

Rating: 8/10 (Highly recommended)

4. Mixed Vegetables

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall mixed veggie

Mixed veggie was the only “green” dish that been served on the night. The vegetables are well cook but lack of seasoning. I would say its fine – honestly nothing special about this dish, just a typical Malay dish that always been served in Malay family. (not trying to be a racist). It worth to try with your love one 🙂

5. Shrimp Fritters (Cucur Udang) – Add on

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall cucur udang

Shrimp fritters also known as cucur udang in Malay. Served as a side or dessert dish for the night, the fritters are served with chili sauce (but I only eat it without the chili sauce). I would say the taste is just OK because the fritters are a bit chewy and not that crispy. Maybe they cook and served it too early. Hence, the fritters became a little squishy and chewy.

6. Mango Salad (Kerabu Mangga) – Add on

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall mango salad

Mango salad or Kerabu mangga is one of many my favorite food. However, I’m a little disappointed by this dish. The mango salads are too sour and spicy. It is suppose to be sour and spicy but this dish just a little too much for me.

Rating: 4/10

7. Drinks – Kedondong Juice

Iftar at The Kitchen, Quill City Mall kedondong juice

As for drinks, we’re allowed to order for our own drinks from the menu. I ordered Kedondong juice (large size size). I never thought it will be that big. We all was surprised when my juice was coming to the table. My drink are perfect! Not to sweet or sour, just perfect. 🙂

Just to mention here, one of my friend, Aliff – his drinks came really late on that night. Its fasting month, the restaurant should be more sensitive for this kind of case because customer are expecting to drink water as soon as possible during the break-fast time. Perhaps, restaurant should serve a plain water as a preparation in case the same thing happen in future. Just a honest opinion.

Rating: 7/10 (Highly recommended – the large size!)
